Marc Kolodziejczyk was born in 1960 in Phoenix, AZ. Growing up in Yuma, he found himself captivated by the beauty of the majestic desert landscapes and intense sunsets. An outdoor enthusiast, Marc’s passion for sports such as surfing, snow skiing, sailing, scuba diving and rock climbing allowed him to experience some of the most beautiful imagery imaginable. Capturing the complex emotions of sunsets in their purest and simplest form is the motivation behind his paintings.
Marc earned his BFA in Film and Television from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. His intrinsic eye for color and ingenuity has allowed him to engage in numerous facets of the Art field.
After graduating from Art Center College of Design, Marc began working for Walt Disney Imagineering as a scenic painter. He was fascinated with how it was possible to develop a space into a living art experience, to be completely immersed in an experience where it becomes a new sense of reality, to actually participate emotionally in the environment.
Marc worked in the Film and Theme Park Industry for over 35 years. Currently, Marc is employed by Universal Studios Hollywood and responsible for the resort’s Show Quality, Asset Corrosion and Mitigation, writing Design Guiding Principle manuals and manages the Universal Studios Dive Team. As an Art Director at Universal Studios Hollywood, Marc was responsible for various attractions of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter such as the Flight of the Hippogriff, Land Carts, Wand Magic Windows as well as past attractions such as Terminator 2:3D. He is responsible for maintaining all of the creative finishes throughout the park.
As Senior Show Artisan for Walt Disney Imagineering, Marc directed the scenic paint efforts such as creating fresh snow and rock work on the Matterhorn, painting with black light to create a 3D experience on the Indiana Jones Ride and Big Thunder Mountain. He also worked on theming ToonTown, Pirates of the Carribean, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Main Street USA, Rivers of America, Frontierland, New Orleans Square Facades and the Club 33 Project.
Marc has a son and a daughter, his daughter being born with Rett Syndrome. As an artist parent, Marc longed to share the experience of art with her. This is when the Special Children’s Art Foundation was created. Marc wanted to help foster hope, self-esteem and community integration by providing the opportunity to engage in socially inclusive mural art projects for children with special needs, their families and mainstream community members. SCAF provides the platform for children with special needs and mainstream students to engage in socialization with art as the focus.
